Day 5VictoriaThe Butchart Gardens & flightseeing to Coal Harbour

Victoria is known as the 'city of gardens,' and The Butchart Gardens are its crowning jewel, honored as a National Historic Site of Canada. The gardens offer an answer to this question: what in the world does one do with an exhausted limestone quarry? In the early 20th century, Jennie Butchart, the chemist at her husband's cement company, turned their used-up limestone quarry into a spectacular Sunken Garden. Next, she added the Italian Garden, the Japanese Garden, and the Rose Garden. Take in the splendor of the Butchart landscapes today and have lunch - an Afternoon Tea - at the original family residence, including a sampling of local wines. A floatplane flies you to Vancouver's Coal Harbour for a two-night stay at Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, a landmark of timeless elegance in the heart of the city. Enjoy dinner at your hotel.
